Steve Breuer served as Executive Director of Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles from 1980 through 2004. A Temple staff member since 1962, Steve had been Camp, Religious School and Youth Director of the Temple. The Steve Breuer Conference Center in Malibu was dedicated in 1992 to honor his 20+ years directing the congregation's renowned Camp Hess Kramer and Gindling Hilltop Camp.

In 2005, Steve established Steve Breuer Associates, consulting for nonprofits, working with congregations, schools and nonprofits throughout North America. He served as executive director of the Progressive Association of Reform Day Schools from 2005 through 2008.

Born in Vienna, Austria, Steve came with his parents to Los Angeles. Completing his academic work at UCLA, he became a teacher in Los Angeles City Schools. Steve has taught in public and religious schools, adult education, and as a field instructor for four State Universities and the University of Judaism. He is an adjunct professor on the faculty of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion as well as the Academy for Jewish Religion, California.

Steve served two terms as President of the National Association of Temple Administrators. He has been an officer/or board member of the Professional Association of Temple Administrators; the Jewish Professional Network; the Union for Reform Judaism; Association of Reform Zionists of America; MAZON, the Jewish Response to Hunger; the American Camping Association; the International Rescue Committee and the Alzheimer's Association.

Steve served on the Board and as president of the Los Angeles County Alzheimer's Association. He was founding president of the California State Council of the Alzheimer's Association. On the national Alzheimer's Association board, he chaired the Development Committee. For ten years, he chaired the GovernorÕs Advisory Committee on Alzheimer's disease and Related Disorders.

The Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles recognized Steve with the Weinberg Chai Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Jewish community. He received three major awards from the National Association of Temple Administrators, which named its Leadership Fund in his honor. The Hebrew Union College presented him the Sherut L’am – Service to the People – Award. He has received recognition from the California Governor and state legislature, the cities of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, and Los Angeles, the counties of Los Angeles and Ventura.

Steve is married to Nadine Bendit Breuer, Head of the Brawerman Elementary School of Wilshire Boulevard Temple. He has two married children and four grandchildren.
